Mudfire Studio Hosting 3/21 Meet N Greet
Where: Atlanta/Decatur at Erik & Luba's place
When: Saturday March 21, starting at 8:30 pm probably until ?
What: Meet n greet, potluck cookout, fire spinning, making rattles, a raku kiln firing, fire pit
Party!!!!!!!! Bring some sides and stuff to cookout, drinks and party favors, and your bad self. We'll start grilling around 8:30, and then its fire pit, fire spinning, a raku kiln firing, and more.
We will also have a good number of rattles made already that anyone coming can paint/glaze/decorate a rattle and we'll fire it in the kiln then and there. Raku is a fun firing process - you pop the lid on the kiln at 1,850 degrees F and pull the glowing red hot pottery out of the kiln, throw it into a steel can full of sawdust and enjoy yet more fire. Firey, smokey, hot, dramatic...just what we burners need.
The meet n greet will take place at MudFire Clayworks, home to 150 clay artists. We're in the Atlanta area,at 175 Laredo Dr., Decatur, GA 30030, 404-377-8033. Basically across the street from the magnificent DeKalb Farmers Market, a great place to pick up some cheese, bread, beer/wine, sides and grillables on the way over for potluck dinner. Maps at html://www.mudfire.com/maps.htm
Volunteer needed! Someone to coordinate the spinning stuff: sound, safety, fuel, tell us what to do to prepare, etc.
Last year we started talking about this, and actually did it, but still have not gotten it out to anywhere yet. We had a few donations of hygiene products for a local homeless shelter. I thought if we did it again, either I or someone ITP could drop off and donate. So if your interested, by all means you dont have to bring it, but bring something that a homeless shelter may need and we will bring them a box of stuff... just to help out around the local area.
Can't wait to see everyone!
ROCK ON!

Sun, March 15, 2009 - 4:56 PMI'd love to bring some of the toys. I never get the chance to spin with other burners. Is that permissable? Is there a check in or fuel supply, or just byoF? Dancing shoes sounds fun!
