Hello, First let me start off by introducing myself since im new here. Im chris, and im located in Duluth, Ga.

I just came back from colombia south america visiting some family, and i have fallen in love with both poi, and fire breathing and was wondering if there where any teacher in this area that could teach, and maybe also sell the needed sticks, ropes, etc.

Any info would be great, Thanks

No kidding! My mother and that whole side of the family are from Bogota, Colombia. I havent been back to visit in a few years though. I live over in Marietta.

Bad news is Im leaving tomorrow for a month, visiting my wife's family over in Ireland.
Good news is that there are plenty of people who can help get you started. Check out the Jai Shanti yoga studio, downtown in Little 5 Points. Here's the class schedule: www.jaishantiyoga.com/classes.html. Talk to Pete and he can give you tons of ideas for making your own poi starter set. He'll probably have an extra set or two on hand for you to play with during the workshop. The next one is actually this coming Sunday. There are a good group of folks who show up there and will be happy to help.

I will be back at the end of July, in time for an August workshop that's being set up by Tim for some intensive poi training. I don't know exactly how much experience you have using poi, though.

Also make sure to look up the schedule for the Lake Clare Land Trust. They generously allow a burn session to go on there Saturdays, about once or twice a month. You should be able to find some people there who practice a variety of fire arts.
