You may remember our art fundraiser from last year. We're doing it again this year, on June 27th, at Blue Tower Gallery (675 Metropolitan Parkway, #1113 Atlanta, GA. 30310). Interactive art is one of the beautiful things about a burn. The Alchemy Art Fundraiser gives the community the opportunity to decide what kind of art to experience at Alchemy.
Submissions
Are you an artist with a fabulous idea for an installation and you would like the community’s help to make that happen? Great - submit your idea to art@alchemyfestival.com or clove@alchemyfestival.com.
What we need:
Your full name, phone number, and email address. If you chose to be known by your burner name, include that as well. Please also include what of this information is ok for us to publicize. This information will be used to help promote you and your installation, as well as post progress reports of your piece, both in announcements and on the website.
We are requiring everyone who is interested in displaying their ideas at the fundraiser this year to submit their ideas in advance. No walk-in artists will be accepted at the fundraiser! Get your ideas to the Art Team NOW! Deadline for submissions is June 14, 2009 at 3pm!
We also need:
1. A detailed description of the project. How will your project incorporate the Alchemy community through its planning, creation, realization, and removal? How will the piece/creativity be installed/performed and removed from the land, Leaving No Trace? Will the piece incorporate Flame Effects? If so, how will those Flame Effects be handled safely in the Alchemy environment?
2. A thorough itemized budget. What materials will you be using and how much do they cost? How will you transport those materials to and from Alchemy? Will extra safety equipment and personnel be required?
3. A timeline detailing the planning, creation, installment, and removal of your project. Optional but suggested: detailed drawings, CAD files, sketches, or other graphic illustrations of your creative concept.
Artists: If you are interested in displaying your ideas at the Art Fundraiser this year, you need to submit a summary of your idea to the Art Team by no later than June 14th, at 3pm.
You can submit it via email to art@alchemyfestival.com or by contacting any Art Team member prior to June 14 to arrange an alternative way to submit your idea.
Then, you show up to the fundraiser with what you want to put forward to the community to gain their support- pictures, miniatures, descriptions- be ready to discuss your work with your fellow burners and get them involved in your visions. Please make some form of display. It can even be a diagram on poster board, but make a visual aid for yourself so that it will be easier for you to convey your artistic ideas to those who attend the event.
If you are interested in being a part of the art team, or volunteering for the fundraiser, we have a Google group here: groups.google.com/group/Alchemy-ArtTeam We would love to have you join our efforts!
